Emotional Architecture: Shelter

2015

Outdoor structures such as the triangular roof, deck and gazebo featured in “Shelter” create feelings of nostalgia and longing. “Shelter” has been developed to give the viewer the opportunity to participate in an activities they believe are encapsulated in various spaces. Spaces could be used for meditation, a community hub or simply an area for hanging out.

Within “Shelter” viewers will come across life-like, breathing cats as well as numerous videos of artificial flying birds. The treehouse is in the process of becoming a library where books which compliment the piece’s theme, such as DIY construction, outdoor survival and vernacular architecture, are available for all viewers.
