This project is comprised of two pieces. The first “Islands for Chilling” and the second “Decoration for Claustrophobic Spaces” which are brought together in an internal dialogue. “Islands for Chilling” invites visitors to take a break and relax on wooden benches designed into stone shapes resting on chalkboard floors and draped with patchwork rugs. Through these sculptures the piece creates furniture for the visitors.
By using overhead projectors to create shadows of analogue paper cut-out animations, “Decoration for Claustrophobic Spaces” builds windows from which landscapes can be seen. These landscapes invite the visitor to pause, sit and reflect upon as well as within the space they find themselves in.
