LANGUAGE OF BIRDS

2012

The expression, “The Language of birds” has been used throughout history, in numerous cultures and contexts to express the language of the unspoken, mysterious and symbolic. Planned as an installation in a broad space, the first phase of the project consisted of three fundamental elements. The first, an animated projection of a huge forest displayed in a shadow theatre fashion containing multiple symbols allusive to the subject. The second, a piece of wooden furniture shaped as a wave facing the woods, where visitors can lie down, sit, rest or contemplate the work whilst inside it. The third, two birdcages projecting human imitations of bird sounds, recreating and surrounding the atmosphere in which the observer is plunged.

Even though each structure, piece and symbol of the installation is inspired by or originates from different periods, cultures or hermetic traditions, all have been integrated following a cosmic, natural and human idea that becomes perennial.
